Sheena Chohan Drives Rights Awareness in Dharavi on Women’s Day

Mumbai, March 2025 — Actor and committed human rights advocate Sheena Chohan chose to observe International Women’s Day not with ceremonial events, but with direct, hands-on engagement in one of Asia’s largest informal settlements—Dharavi.

On the day dedicated to women’s achievements and gender equality, Sheena spent hours with school students, young artists, and community youth, facilitating open conversations about self-confidence, equality between genders, and the everyday relevance of fundamental human rights. Rather than delivering a conventional speech, she created space for dialogue, listening as much as she spoke, and distributed specially prepared educational booklets and kits that explain core concepts of dignity, justice, and equal treatment in simple, accessible language.

“Real progress begins when young people feel confident enough to speak up about equality,” Sheena said during the interactions. “Women’s Day reminds us that empowerment is not only about celebration—it’s about awareness, courage, and creating spaces where girls and boys grow up believing that respect and safety are fundamental values.”

A key part of the day’s program took place in collaboration with The Dharavi Dream Project, a youth-led creative learning initiative that uses hip-hop, music, dance, and storytelling to build confidence and community voice among Dharavi’s young residents. Bringing together students and emerging performers, the session explored how creative expression can serve as a powerful tool to discuss equality, challenge stereotypes, and amplify marginalized perspectives within densely populated urban neighbourhoods.

Later, Sheena conducted and supported a focused seminar with Udayan Care, an organisation long active in providing education, mentorship, and life-skills support to vulnerable children and youth, many of whom are growing up without stable family environments. The seminar emphasised practical knowledge of rights, the importance of self-advocacy, and pathways to independent, dignified futures.

Throughout the day’s activities, the underlying message remained consistent: International Women’s Day should be more than symbolic. For Sheena, it is an occasion to plant seeds of awareness and courage—especially among adolescent girls and boys—so they internalise the belief that equality and personal safety are non-negotiable rights, not privileges.

By choosing Dharavi as the location for her Women’s Day initiative, Sheena deliberately stepped into a space often associated with economic hardship and limited access to structured education. Her presence, paired with tangible resources and interactive sessions, aimed to counter that narrative by showing young residents that knowledge of rights is itself a form of power.

Observers familiar with her earlier advocacy work note that this approach reflects a consistent pattern: using her public platform to move beyond awareness-raising into direct community action. Whether through educational materials, creative workshops, or structured seminars, the emphasis remains on long-term impact—equipping the next generation with the language, confidence, and understanding needed to claim and protect their rights.

As the day concluded, participants left with more than printed booklets; many carried new questions, fresh perspectives, and the quiet realisation that change often begins in small, intentional conversations held in familiar surroundings.

For Sheena Chohan, the work does not end with one day. She has indicated that initiatives like these are part of a continuing effort to reach young people across different communities, using dialogue, creativity, and education to reinforce the principle that dignity, equality, and human rights belong to everyone—without exception.

Bhubaneswar, March 9, 2026 — In an important step toward preparing Odisha’s higher education system for the artificial intelligence era, Birla Global University (BGU) partnered with Microsoft Research India to host a one-day Leadership Conclave titled “Transformation of Higher Education in the Age of AI.” The event drew academic leaders from 26 universities and colleges across the state, creating a platform for candid discussions on how AI is reshaping teaching, learning, and institutional structures.

Participants examined the limitations of traditional early education models and how AI tools are fundamentally altering the delivery of knowledge. Conversations emphasized the need for ethical AI integration—ensuring fairness, accountability, and inclusivity—while promoting cross-disciplinary approaches and collaborative learning environments that better prepare students for a rapidly changing world.

A major outcome of the conclave was broad support for the Odisha University Compact, a proposed federated framework designed to foster cooperation among institutions while preserving each one’s autonomy. Under this model, universities could share academic resources, facilitate faculty exchanges, and establish interdisciplinary working groups. Students would gain greater flexibility by earning credits across partner institutions, enabling a more modular and personalized higher education experience.

The Compact aligns closely with the Ekalavya Model, which blends AI-driven innovations with modern pedagogical methods such as project-based and portfolio-based learning. This approach recognizes incremental achievements through micro-credentials, allowing students to accumulate credits from short modules and practical tasks. Proponents argue these elements modernize conventional systems by prioritizing skill development, collaboration, and continuous academic growth in an AI-influenced landscape.

The program featured technical insights and forward-looking perspectives from key speakers. Dr. Manohar Swaminathan, Senior Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research India, led workshops on the Pluriversity Compact concept and introduced participants to advanced Agentic AI systems. He explored their potential to transform curricula design and create more adaptive, personalized learning environments that respond to individual student needs.

Deewakar Gupta from KPMG India provided context on the evolving regulatory landscape surrounding AI applications in education and the workforce, highlighting compliance challenges and opportunities for responsible adoption.

Academic voices included Prof. Rangin P. Tripathy, Registrar at National Law University Odisha; Prof. Sridevi Guda, Pro-Vice Chancellor at Centurion University of Technology and Management; and Dr. Sanjay Kuanar, Dean of the School of Engineering at BGU. Industry perspectives came from Puspak Patro, CEO of Dynamicweb (Singapore), and Dr. Saiprasanna Behera of CRO Pharma Trendz, who stressed the growing demand for AI-literate graduates and the necessity of tighter academia-industry linkages to align curricula with real-world skill requirements.

The day also celebrated student innovation through the “Agents for Academia” Hackathon award ceremony, where participants showcased creative AI applications aimed at improving various aspects of the education ecosystem—from administrative efficiency to inclusive classroom tools.

The conclave wrapped up with the establishment of a dedicated collaborative working group tasked with translating these ideas into actionable reforms. This initiative positions Birla Global University to lead efforts in building a research-oriented, AI-integrated education system that remains competitive and responsive to future demands.

By bringing together diverse stakeholders—academics, researchers, regulators, and industry professionals—the event underscored a shared recognition: AI is no longer a distant disruptor but an active force requiring thoughtful, collective adaptation in Odisha’s higher education sector. The steps initiated here could set a regional precedent for collaborative, technology-enabled learning models across India.

Fans appreciate its grounded storytelling and emotional authenticity. With Rabb Da Radio 3, the makers appear intent on preserving that signature tone while introducing fresh faces and perspectives.

The simultaneous release of the poster and the first track has already started conversations online and within Punjabi film circles. The visuals and music snippet suggest continuity in the franchise’s focus on love, gratitude, relationships, and cultural roots—elements that have consistently resonated in Punjab and its diaspora.

As the theatrical release date of 3 April 2026 draws closer, anticipation is steadily rising. Punjabi audiences, who have long embraced family-oriented narratives, are looking forward to another chapter that promises to deliver both nostalgia and emotional depth.

The thoughtful decision to mark International Women’s Day with this launch not only paid tribute to women’s contributions on and off screen but also reinforced the film’s central message of respect, family, and enduring bonds. For now, with the first visuals and sound out in the open, Rabb Da Radio 3 has successfully captured attention and set the stage for what many expect to be one of the standout Punjabi releases of the year.

Mumbai, 09 March 2026: On the occasion of International Women’s
Day, filmmaker Zaigham Imam unveiled his next ambitious project, The
Narmada Story, a powerful crime drama rooted in the heartland of Madhya
Pradesh. Inspired by real incidents and the struggles faced by tribal
communities, the film promises a compelling narrative centred on
courage, resistance, and the unbreakable spirit of women.

The
film features a formidable ensemble cast led by Ashwini Kalsekar, Simala
Prasad and National Award-winning actor Anjali Patil, along with
veteran performers Zarina Wahab, Raghubir Yadav and Mukesh Tiwari in
pivotal roles. The makers say the film will spotlight strong female
characters and their fight for dignity and justice.

The Narmada
Story follows the gripping journey of a tribal mother who refuses to bow
down when powerful criminals threaten her daughter. Instead of
succumbing to fear, she rises with fierce determination to protect her
child and challenge the oppressive forces around her. Her struggle gains
momentum when a newly appointed woman Sub-Inspector joins hands with
her, choosing integrity over silence and daring to confront corruption
embedded within the system.

Together, the two women become
symbols of resistance, taking on criminals who believe their power
places them above the law. Through their fight, the film sheds light on
the realities faced by tribal women while celebrating their strength,
courage, and resilience.

Speaking about the project, critically acclaimed director Zaigham Imam said, “The
Narmada Story is deeply inspired by real incidents from rural India. On
Women’s Day, I felt it was the most appropriate moment to announce a
film that celebrates the extraordinary courage of ordinary women. It is a
story of a mother’s bravery and a woman officer’s integrity—together
they challenge fear and injustice. Packed with strong performances,
realistic storytelling, thrilling moments and a deeply rooted social
message, The Narmada Story promises audiences a compelling mix of
action, emotion and inspiration, bringing to the screen a story of
courage, justice and the indomitable spirit of women.”

Producer Piiyush Singh of Golden Ratio Films added, “This
film is not just a crime drama; it is a tribute to the strength of
women who stand up against injustice despite overwhelming odds. The
performances by actors like National Award winner Anjali Patil, along
with Zarina Wahab ji and Raghubir Yadav ji, bring immense depth and
authenticity to this powerful narrative. Narmada Story offers a glimpse
into an intense and gripping cinematic journey set against the majestic
backdrop of the river Narmada and the heartland of Madhya Pradesh.”

The
film is produced by AB Infosoft Creation with Golden Ratio Films as
co-producer. The story is written by Zaigham Imam, while the screenplay
and dialogues are penned by Akash Tak, Pankaj Kaurav, and Imam himself.
The music for the film is composed by Manik Batra. Arshad Jafri is the
creative producer of the film.

With its strong girl-power theme
and a narrative inspired by real struggles, The Narmada Story aims to
deliver a gripping cinematic experience while shining light on the
courage of women who refuse to remain silent. The film is expected to
hit theatres this summer.

Actor Seerat Kapoor has always been known for carrying grace and composure both on and off screen. However, the actress recently shared a firm note on professionalism; a message that has quietly sparked conversations within industry circles.

Taking to her platform, Seerat reflected on a side of the entertainment industry that rarely comes into public view: honouring professional commitments once the work is done.

In a strongly worded statement, the actress addressed the importance of accountability when it comes to financial obligations towards the teams that work behind the scenes.

She wrote:

“Work is remembered long after the cameras stop rolling. So is the professionalism that follows it.

It has now been four months since a production has failed to honour its financial commitments. Despite the patience shown during a personal medical emergency in my family, payments towards my staff have failed and even a cheque issued to the team has bounced.

I would strongly advise the concerned team to resolve this without further delay and not test this situation any further, before I am compelled to take the necessary steps.”

While the actress chose not to name the production involved, her message highlights a larger issue that many professionals across the industry quietly face: delayed payments and unfulfilled commitments long after projects are completed.

Sources close to the actress report that Seerat has always preferred to resolve matters privately. However, after months of patience and continued delays impacting her team, she felt it was important to draw a clear line.

In an industry built on collaboration and trust, Seerat Kapoor’s message stands as a reminder that respecting commitments off-screen is just as important as the work delivered on-screen and that those who stand by their teams will always be remembered for it.

The highlight of the festival will be the historic global resolution on March 7, when 10.8 million devotees across the world will simultaneously recite the Dadaguru Iktisa Paath. The event is being organized under the aegis of the Dadagurudev Shri Jindattsuri Chadar Mahotsav Committee. The Chadar Mahotsav Committee is chaired by Maharashtra Government Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, with former JITO Chairman Tejraj Golecha serving as Convenor. Around 400 saints from various Indian traditions and nearly 20,000 devotees are expected to attend the three-day event.

First Formal Abhishek After 871 Years

According to Chairman Mangal Prabhat Lodha, this initiative is not merely a religious ritual but a global movement of faith, unity, and spiritual awakening. At a designated time, devotees across India and abroad will recite the Dadaguru Iktisa Paath simultaneously, creating a collective wave of spiritual consciousness worldwide.

For the first time in 871 years, the sacred Chadar of Dadagurudev Shri Jindattsuri will undergo a formal ceremonial Abhishek. Prior to this, the Chadar will be brought in a grand procession (Varghoda) from the Jaisalmer Fort to the festival venue. On March 8, Upadhyay Mahendrasagar Maharaj will be conferred the title of Acharya.

Global Participation in the Collective Recitation

Prakash Chandra Lodha, National Chairman of the Dadaguru Iktisa Program, stated that the central attraction of the three-day Chadar Mahotsav (March 6–8, 2026) will be the historic collective recitation by 10.8 million devotees worldwide on March 7. Devotees across countries will participate simultaneously, spreading spiritual energy globally.

Key Programs Over Three Days

March 6: The festival will commence with the ceremonial entry of Gachchhadhipati, Acharyas, Upadhyays, and revered saints. A religious assembly will be addressed in the presence of RSS Chief Mohan Rao Bhagwat. A commemorative coin and special postal stamp for the Chadar ceremony will be released. A museum is also being set up at the venue. Approximately 20,000 devotees of Dadaguru Jindattsuri from across India and abroad are expected to attend. Jaisalmer district is considered an extremely significant religious site for the Jain community.

Sacred Chadar: A Symbol of Unwavering Faith

According to Organizing Committee Secretary Padam Tatia, the first Dadaguru, Acharya Shri Jindattsuri, is regarded as a great 11th-century spiritual leader. As per tradition, his last rites were performed in Ajmer on land granted by King Arnoraj. During the cremation, the miraculous event of the Chadar not burning became a symbol of divine grace and remains a center of deep faith for devotees.

Historical records state that about one and a half centuries ago, the Maharawal of Jaisalmer brought this Chadar from Anhilpur Patan to mitigate a devastating epidemic. Currently, the sacred Chadar is preserved at Shri Jinbhadra Suri Gyan Bhandar inside Jaisalmer Fort. The Chadar Mahotsav is organized based on this revered tradition.
